Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop

The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop was developed in 1988 to assist appraisers with the comprehensive examination given by The Appraisal Institute. Thousands of appraisers with the MAI designation have taken the workshop towards their designation in over one hundred offerings over the last thirteen years.

Costs:  The complete workshop, 3 1/2 days, is $450. Any one day is $150 and any two days $300. If you are a repeat taker of the workshop the cost is $225 for 3 1/2 days. Any one day is $100. The cost for materials only is $75 for all four modules (General, Income, Cost and Sales) or $25 per set individually. Materials are included with the seminar if registering for the class. The download information will be sent to the email address you supply when registering.

Don't let the cost deter you. If you need to make arrangements to pay over time or later, just contact me and we will set it up.

Format: The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop is a 3 1/2 day offering. The workshop is divided into 3 1/2 days that model the last three parts to the comprehensive examination. The materials are downloaded from this website by individual students who register for the class. Preparation before the class is an important part of the process of the class. The class does not end early on the fourth day so make your plane reservations accordingly.

Day 1: General 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Day 2: Income 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Day 3: Cost 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Day 4: Sales 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Lunch will be from 11:50 to 1:00 and is not provided. The student will be exposed to lecture, question & answer and problems & solutions in the workshop. The instructor will be available before and/or after class for questions requiring one-on-one attention.

Refund Policy: A full refund is available with the return of the course materials if notified before the class starts that a student is not able to attend.

The student understands & accepts the risk of cancellation of the class in event of sickness or unforeseen event to the instructor or family. Ted Whitmer is the only instructor of The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop. If the class is canceled for any reason, a full refund of the tuition will be given & the student can keep the materials without charge. Neither The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop nor Ted Whitmer will be responsible for any other loss including but not limited to non-refundable airline tickets, hotel or other charges because of the cancellation.

Continuing Education Credit: This class will be available for continuing education from New York, California and Texas. You may want to check with your state to see if they will give CE. Although not endorsed by the Appraisal Institute, they have given credit for the class to designated members.

Hotel Registration Information: Registration for the hotel sleeping rooms are your responsibility. A block is reserved for The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop, but you must call to reserve a room before 30 days from the workshop. Let the reservation representative know you are with "The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop." If the hotel representative does not show the group have them try "Ted Whitmer." Recommended: You should complete the required courses for the MAI designation before attempting this seminar. The offering is at an advanced level. If you are not proficient with a financial calculator it is suggested you take the Appraisal Institute online HP 12C seminar. The seminar is through the Appraisal Institute. Go to the links tab and go to the Appraisal Institute site. You should be familiar with USPAP, the Appraisal Institute Ethics, Regulation 6 and Guide Notes. Go to the links tab and view or download the documents associated with those topics. Also, go to Free Downloads tab and download Skills & Tools and go over the materials including working the problems included in that set of materials. These materials were apart of The Comprehensive Appraisal Workshop when it was a five-day offering and it is anticipated the student is proficient in the problems presented in the Skills & Tools materials. Finally, review the course materials from the Appraisal Institute classes and The Appraisal of Real Estate, 12th Edition.

Ted – I passed ALL FOUR modules on the first sitting and I could not have done it without your prep class! I felt totally prepared when I sat for the exam, although I am still in shock that I passed the entire exam. I have recommended to several people in my area (before I even got my results) that it was not even worth sitting for the exam without taking your class. Many thanks!

Ted - I just got my results today from the April exam. 4 for 4! First time taking it too... I really couldn't have done it without you and your course!

Thanks much again...

Thanks. I just found out that I passed all four modules of the Comprehensive Exam on the first attempt. Your seminar and materials were the most helpful in my preparation by far. Nothing else came close. I recommend you to all who ask and some who don't. Thanks again.

Ted,
As you undoubtedly know the results have just come out. Fortunately, I passed all modules. As so many grateful people have done in the past, I want to let you know of my deeply-felt sense of gratitude for the skills you provided through your course. Those are what allowed me to pass. Simply couldn't have done it without you. Plus, the course was actually kind of
fun. I never thought I'd say that about appraisal, so you've really slain the beast there...

Thanks again for liberating me from Comp Exam purgatory! Look forward to seeing you at the Litigation Seminar here in Southern California.
